 Cindy Kennaugh was born in Africa and educated in Europe and S.E. Asia. She has had 22 years experience directing and teaching theatre and acting to children and adults in the U.S. and abroad. She holds a B.A. double major in Theatre Performance and French Literature from Pomona College in California and Masters Degrees in Education and Educational Administration from Michigan State University and The College of New Jersey respectively. Her performance training includes the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC and The Arts et Progres acting school in Paris. She has studied, taught classes and directed productions in a myriad of genres such as Kabuki (traditional Japanese theater), Corporeal Mime, Theatre of the Absurd, Women's Theatre, Children's Theatre, and Shakespearean Drama.
Capitalizing on her fluency in French, Cindy worked professionally in Paris as the Assistant Technical Director and Stage Manager for Peter Brook's Theatre, Les Bouffes du Nord and in the Cave de Bauvais at the Festival du Marais. In 1987 she toured Germany with Eugene Ionesco, performing his play "Parlons Francais". While teaching Performing Arts at the International School of Geneva her students created and performed original scenes at the United Nations for "The Rights of the Child" and "Save the Elephants" initiative. She also acted with the Little Theatre of Geneva and the Geneva English Dramatic Society and stage-managed for the Geneva Amateur Operatic Society. In 1992, Cindy moved to Venezuela, South America for eleven years where she taught and directed over 70 productions at another International school. While there, she founded the Caracas Amateur Theatre, producing quality shows and classes for the English speaking community. Since her return stateside in 2003, in addition to teaching acting classes at Raskin, she has directed shows and drama camps with Applause Academy and Kissimmee Parks and Rec. and freelances with her new company DRAMA-AID, Act Out Of The Box. (www.drama-aid.com) Cindy also teaches Yoga and Pilates at Valencia Community College and the YMCA and in her spare time, she "acts" like a mom to her three great kids and generally enjoys life to the fullest!
